And even almost 18 years later, the attitudes of some churches still have not changed. In 2018, I legally separated from my ex-husband. I was a church member and involved in Children’s Ministry, so I thought I was doing the right thing notifying the senior pastors about my decision. It was a bad move on my part. At the time, I didn't know that my ex was a covert narcissist, so my ex-husband convinced the church that I left the marriage because I was unhappy. A good friend said my kids would go to hell and I eventually list full custody of my children. I read a lot of Christian articles about divorce, very few make a disclaimer about abuse. The church needs to be more open about abuse.
