Great article! Having raised a daughter who is 20 years old now, I had my work cut out for me. Being a faithful Christian family, we attended a church not much different than you describe but less twisted. My daughter was also a beautiful and graceful ballet dancer. One thing I instilled in her by the grace of God was that she should not sacrifice her body on the alter of ballet. Since she was 4 years old she danced to her heart’s desire.
Something shifted in middle school, she no longer wanted to be part of the young women in the church. However, her closest ballet and school friends were beautiful and honorable young women who shared similar beliefs. She continued to thrive at school and dance and was fed in faith by the adult church. I could not be any prouder of my soon to be forensic scientist with a passion for backstage production.
