To honor means to esteem and treat another with respect because of who they are or what they have done. Honor has the sense of value, price, or quality. That which is valued and esteemed is “honored.” The biblical use sometimes also means to seek to enhance the reputation of someone. William Barcley, What is Honor?

Hollywood’s most prestige night to celebrate the greatest members of the industry was marred by a never-before-seen interaction by Academy Award Winner Actor Will Smith and host Chris Rock. Opinions varied as people processed what happened on that stage. Was it staged or real? Was it right or wrong? Was it warranted? Should we cancel both men for what they said and did? As a mother of young men and a young woman, this was an object lesson in God’s Word that I had to discuss with them.
