I have heard LGBTQ use these verses to "expose" that David and Jonathan were "homosexual." Something to think about is throughout the Bible, there are numerous references to David being faithful and obedient to God, a man after God's heart. He followed the Torah, the books of Jewish law, so much that every successor to David's throne was always compared to the heart and actions of David. In the Torah, the book of Leviticus is often glossed over today, because many people do not believe it to be relevant or interesting. Chapters 18 and 20: 10-21, the law David would have followed, details sexual relationships that were abhorrent to God. If we are so easily ready to condemn people who commit incest (Lev. 20:17) why would we be so eager to throw out homosexuality in Lev: 20:13? We cannot pick and choose what we want to follow. Jesus has done away with the death sections of these Levitical laws (John 8:3-8). Why would God not "see" a "homosexual" relationship? If David lost his first son with Bathsheba due to his adulterous relationship, it makes you think what God would have done had David been homosexual. You might want to read the books of Kings and Chronicles.
