Our children do not live in the world that we grew up in. It is not just the reliance on phones and computers.

As a mother of 4 teens in high school and in the wake of yesterday’s shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, I am horrified to read of the deaths of so many children taken so young in this tragedy and the two teachers that were in the same classroom by an 18-year-old student from the nearby high school.

Pink background with the handwritten words thoughts and prayers crossed out, and policy and change in capital letters.

I first saw the above graphic after the Parkland, Florida, and Santa Fe, Texas, school shootings in 2018. I argued with the celebrity who posted this that the family of the victims in these two school shootings indeed needed our prayers and thoughts because of the loss of life. I also agreed with him that we needed policy and change to prevent further loss of lives.
